Fundamentals of Homeopathy Course in Haiti 2019

March 2019
In 2019, HWB taught BOTH the "Fundamentals of Homeopathy" and "Fundamentals of Homeopathy for the Childbearing Year" in Haiti. We couldn't have done it without the support of the Haitian Association of Medicine, our HWB-trained teaching assistants, volunteers from North America, homeopathic pharmacies, and the doctors, nurses and other health professionals in Haiti who are eager to learn how to integrate homeopathy into their practices.
The two classes of Haitian healthcare professionals completed their homeopathic courses and are already bringing homeopathic care into their own communities, despite turmoil and civil unrest in Haiti which necessitated several adjustments in teaching schedules in 2019, Haitian medical professionals finished HWB’s Fundamentals of Homeopathy (FOH) and Fundamentals of Homeopathy for the Childbearing Year classwork and clinical work, and graduated on September 17, 2019.
The Fundamentals of Homeopathy for Medical Professionals was taught at the Association Médicale Haïtienne, our partner in Port-au-Prince who has encouraged their members to add homeopathic medicine to their ‘toolbox’. HWB was invited to teach its new Homeopathy for the Childbearing Year (CBY) course at a busy maternity hospital. The course was created by Clinical Director Lauren Fox, FNP-BC, CCH, to give local professionals another tool to combat the disturbingly-high infant and maternal mortality rates in Haiti. Read more.

Fundamentals of Homeopathy for the Childbearing Year Course 2019
After 3 days of class, clinics were held at a very busy maternity hospital (300 patients per month). Eleven students successfully completed the sessions. Upon completion, students received their Homeopathic Birthing Kits which included 46 medicines. Seventeen women were treated on the maternity floor for a range of concerns: pre-eclampsia, failure to progress, severe after-pains, poor milk supply, severe hemorrhoids post-delivery, episiotomy pain, and newborn eye discharge. A woman treated in November received a prenatal follow up. She had been initially treated for the chief complaint of low abdominal pressure and repetitive miscarriages. She was now 36 weeks gestation, the longest she had ever gone!

What people are saying
"When I got enrolled in the course, I knew nothing about it. I did not know how it would help me. In my community there is very little access to medicine. People have no money. Homeopathy is made for Haiti!" ~ MD working in the mountains of the south, an area very hard hit by Hurricane Matthew
